ByMarley is a Sydney photography and videography studio founded by Charley and Mat.
We create professional visual work for brands, businesses and personal celebrations - from campaign photography and social video to corporate events, proposals and milestone occasions.
Every project is handled directly by us, from the first conversation through to planning, production and final delivery. This keeps communication clear, the creative direction consistent and the finished work connected to what you originally set out to achieve.
A two-person studio with a flexible production model
ByMarley is built around a small, hands-on core team.
For many projects, working as a compact team allows us to move efficiently, keep the experience relaxed and capture photography and video cohesively. The people discussing the brief with you are also the people behind the cameras and involved in the edit.
When a project requires more scale, we expand the production with trusted specialists and partners such as additional photographers, creative directors, assistants, stylists and other crew.
This allows us to remain personally involved while adapting the team to the needs of each project.

Meet Mat
Photographer, filmmaker and visual storyteller
Mat moves easily between photo and video depending on what is happening and what the job needs, and also enjoys drone work for capturing those unique perspectives.
He is particularly attentive to composition and light - the small details that give a set of photographs or a film its character. Whether documenting a live event or producing commercial content, he balances the planned requirements of the project with the unscripted moments that happen around them.
Mat is involved throughout the process, from interpreting the brief and planning coverage to shooting and shaping the final edit. He is passionate about always looking for ways to level up his skills and apply creative techniques to both production and post production.
Meet Charley
Filmmaker, photographer & creative director
Charley also works across filmmaking, creative direction and editing, bringing a background in product and visual design to the way projects are planned and brought together.
She considers not only how an individual image or film looks, but how the complete body of work functions across a campaign, website, social platform or personal gallery. Her approach combines thoughtful composition and visual detail with direction that still leaves room for natural movement and interaction.
Having previously worked as a model, Charley also understands what it feels like to be on the other side of the camera. That experience shapes the way she directs clients and talent, offering clear and practical guidance without making the experience feel overly posed or self-conscious.
How we work
We want the final photos and films to look polished while still feeling like the people, business or event they came from.
For personal shoots and events, we give direction when it helps while keeping the moments authentic.
For commercial work, we make sure we understand what the content is for, where it will be used and what needs to be delivered before planning the shoot.
Some clients come to us with a complete brief. Others only have a rough idea and need help working out the concept, locations, shot list or deliverables. We can work with you either way.
